Enjoying The Work!
Wow Eric! That's too bad that you're home already! Why don't you extend for a little bit and help us out here in Taiwan haha. It was lots of fun to read about your trip in Japan and all of the fun. I'm glad that you got to experience some of the fun heat that we love so much. Was it hot for you Eric? Or was it just about the usual haha. I was happy to hear that Eric got home just in time to help you finish up cleaning out the other garage. Wow lucky you Eric! Thank goodness it'll be long finished by the time I come home!
Things are going well for me down in Gaoxiong. This week was honestly a little rough. We thought that it was originally going to be an awesome week, because we had set up so many new people to meet with. But unfortunately most of them didn't show up like they said:-( That is always a little upsetting because we know what they are missing out on, but we just have to hope that somewhere later on down the road that they will listen to our message. Actually we met with a really cool guy this week named W.... He is an artist and some of the stuff that he draws is really cool. Actually he used to not really like Christians so he has drawn lots of interesting stuff like what you might see in Dante's Inferno, but they are really good drawings. He has changed a lot since then and he is very polite and really wants to meet with us and learn. Right now his idea of God is still as a changeable form of energy that transforms into all of the gods that people believe in. Most people in Taiwan believe that as well. So Christianity is a very big change for him, but he is super cool and even came to church yesterday for a little bit before he had to go to work.
It is a lot different being a senior companion and district leader because now everyone is asking ME on how to do things and what they think is best. The hardest part though is that I feel an even greater responsibility for the care of those that we teach. When they have problems, sometimes it's just up to me to try and help them out. Thank goodness that it actually isn't me alone who is there to help. I'm super glad that I have help from above to help me know what to say and how to respond to the many problems and concerns that people have.
On pday we went to a pretty fun place. If you saw the pic on facebook of us holding the blocks, that's where we went. It was called an escape room. You go inside, and you have to find a bunch of clues in each of the rooms your in that will help you escape on to the next room. It was super fun! And it was super hard because everything was in Chinese!!! I was actually surprised with how much I could read, but thank goodness we had two Taiwanese friends to help us read the clues. It was a ton of fun! I would recommend it...if you have perfect Chinese.
btw, thanks for the package that you sent! I was super surprised to see all the candy that was inside! All of those Reeses!! It's been forever since I've had those haha. Thanks so much. I had to put them all in the freezer before I could even think about eating them though. Unless I wanted some chocolate syrup.
Well I love you all lots!! Have a great week! and enjoy Eric being home for a little bit before he moves off to college and finds a wife within the next few weeks! haha
Love,
