Transfers!
Hi Everyone,
Well today we had transfers, and Elder Smith was called up to Nantou, which is a really really rural area further North. I was pretty sad that he is leaving because we had a lot of good times together, but I bet he was ready to go. He had been serving here for about 6 and a half months and probably wanted some new scenery. I'm especially going to miss singing with him every Monday morning. That was a lot of fun to sing with him and have him play the guitar. My new companion is Elder Anderson from Gilbert, Arizona. He's been in Taiwan for a long time and only has 2 or so transfers left. I'm sure we will have a great time together and get a lot accomplished.
Last Saturday we had a very special event...F...'s baptism!!! He was super stoked for it and was impatient for the day to finally come. His testimony has continued to grow stronger and stronger. Everytime I talk with him I see more and more how much he really knows this is true. The Sunday after his baptism, I had the privilege to confirm him a member of the Church and bestow upon him the gift of the Holy Ghost. Usually we like to have members help do that, but no one could do it in English so I was able to do that for him. That was really neat. He told me that when he posted on Facebook that he was baptized, a lot of his high school friends said that they were Mormon too! He had no idea that so many of his friends had been baptized! That's really cool, so when he returns to the Philippines he will have lots of support from his friends.
Things have been going well in our area. D... is really progressing and is getting more prepared for her baptismal date in April. We've been trying to work with P... too. She goes to Church every week, prays and reads the Book of Mormon. She says she knows the Book of Mormon is true, but she is still hesitating to take the next step towards baptism. She agreed very hesitantly for a date at the end of this month, but something still seems to be holding her back. She really is ready to be baptized but we need to find out where her concerns are and help her to resolve them. Another friend, V... has been on the edge too. She is starting to gain a testimony, but it's hard for her to switch from being a devote Taoist. We gave her a priesthood blessing yesterday because she was sick, and by the end she was in tears. She said that through the blessing she could really feel the love of God and knew that he existed! I really hope that her testimony can continue to grow!
I really feel like there was more exciting stuff that happened this week but I always forget everything when I sit down to write....sorry about that. Well, last week's cleaning was a lot of fun! It took us the whole pday and even then we didn't get finished so we had to finish up really quick Thursday morning before the inspection team came. Luckily we got a great score! haha. Oh, those pics were from when Elder Rock and I went on exchanges. We went contacting all over the place and decided to try contacting near a beach. We saw that really tall tower. I have no idea what the purpose is, but it looked pretty sweet. We could've climbed up it but we decided that it was a little dangerous. That huge boat was near there as well. You could get on it and tour it, but that will have to wait for another day. Well that's pretty much it. I love you all very much. I'm looking forward to that letter you sent.
Love,
Andrew
ps I'm glad to hear that Alexa is doing well driving! Keep it up!
